• Create a creature in Create Your Wild Self. Describe its habitat, adaptations, parts of its body
  • Diagram food chains, scientific processes, etc. using mind mapping tools such as Kidspiration, Inspiration, or online tools such as My Lovely Charts
  • Conduct interviews with scientists around the world using Skype. Interviews can also be recorded using Audacity or a Flip video camera. Media can be assembled into a video using iMovie or MovieMaker or saved as a podcast.
  • Use a document camera to enable all to see an object up close. Use the document camera's built-in photo or video capture to record observations, processes, etc. Some document cameras have connectors that attach to a microscope.
  • Record processes or steps of experiments, etc. using a video or still camera. Assemble using Photostory (still photos), iMovie, or MovieMaker. Glogster can be used to make a multimedia poster (embed video or still)
  • View and interact with simulations. Many great science simulations can be found here.
  • Organize and classify information with tools such as Inspiration, database, or a spreadheet. If doing collaboratively, Google Spreadheets is good choice.
  • Analyze data (cause & effect, trends, etc.) through tools such as spreadsheet graphs, Inspiration's InspireData, or Tinkerplots software.
  • Demonstrate procedural use of equipment or an experiment through videotape or photography. Media can then be inserted into a PowerPoint, made into a movie, etc. This can be shared online through YouTube, TeacherTube, SlideShare, etc.
  • Probeware enables students to conduct experiments (i.e. temperature, water pH), gather various types of data, and analyze. Some probe devices have software and setups for elementary students.
  • Generate quizzes and assessment activities through tools such the website SuperTeacherTools, Jeopardy (and other game) templates for PowerPoint, HotPotatoes, Quia, Hyperstudio, or software accompanying interactive whiteboards. Students can also create these activities.
  • Create labeling activities using the SmartBoard Notebook software and its Lesson Activity Toolkit. Terminology can be recorded, enabling students to hear pronunciation.
